The Missouri Perinatal Quality Collaborative (MO PQC), in partnership with the Missouri Hospital Association (MHA), released a publication, Improving Health for Individuals, Populations and Communities at Large by Leveraging Closed-Loop Referral Platforms and Processes, highlighting the importance of screening for nonclinical social needs. As of Jan. 1, 2025 the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires acute care hospitals to screen all inpatients aged 18+ for housing, food, transportation, violence exposure, and utility access. Hospitals must also connect patients with appropriate resources through closed-loop referral systems.
