The Missouri Perinatal Quality Collaborative (MO PQC), in partnership with Uzma Khan, M.D., MPH, and the Missouri Hospital Association, released guidance on cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) syndrome—a complex condition linking heart disease, kidney disease, obesity, and Type 2 diabetes. From 2015 to 2020, one in four U.S. adults had at least one of these conditions, with one in ten experiencing overlapping issues. CKM syndrome offers a unified framework to better understand and manage these interconnected diseases.
The publication includes background on CKM syndrome, its stages, prevalence data, treatment strategies, and resources for both providers and patients.
